Hilsen

Bruno

It is supported in 2.4, but you cannot use the High-Efficiency Compression mode of the camera.

From the supported camera list:

Z 8 (standard compression formats only) (new)

Fra listen over understøttede kameraer :

Jeg har ver. 2.4.2 mine billeder nef er helt sorte. Hvad menes med kameraets højeffektive kompressionstilstand.  ??

I have ver. 2.4.2 my images are completely black. What is meant by the camera's high-efficiency compression mode?

The Z 8 has several modes for storing its raw images. They can be uncompressed, or they can be compressed in a basic fashion, or they can be highly compressed ("high efficiency compression"). That latter mode is not supported in the Affinity applications. You should choose a different compression setting in your camera, or use another application to process the files before Opening them in Affinity Photo.

To add some more details:
AFPhoto uses LibRaw to decode camera raw files. And LibRaw currently does not support Nikons High-Efficiency mode. They plan to do so, but no time frame given. Even in their latest dev snapshot it is not supported. Seems as if it is a very complex task, as even Adobe does not support it on all hardware architectures.
