Thin Shapes, e.g., a Rectangle with a height of 0.2 mm or a Pie with a whole radius of 99.9% will hang the Affinity apps and fail to both Preview and Export to PDF when a thin dashed inside stroke is applied to the shape, e.g., 0.01 pt and even 0.1 pt... I've not yet tested the point at which this no longer fails as there are too many variables, shape height, line thickness, dash length, dash gap etc., but I've attached two sample files, Line Inside Stroke.afpub and Line Centre Stroke.afpub, the rectangles have a fill and a range of thin dashed strokes applied. Attempting to export Line Inside Stroke.afpub to a PDF file fails to Preview and Export resulting in Publisher (Designer and Photo) hanging, requiring a Force Quit, Line Centre Stroke.afpub exports to PDF without issue... Line Inside Stroke.afpub exports to any raster file format without issue but fails to export to any vector file format, i.e., PDF, SVG, EPS and so on. Staff stokerg Posted March 19 Staff Share Posted March 19 Hi @Hangman, I don't think this is logged from what i can see, but i double check with QA. Bit odd this one, if i start a New Document and create 2mm high rectangle, with an inside dashed stroke, the PDF Export Preview does show up after a small delay and the export completes. If i duplicate the shape a number of times, the preview then takes a bit longer to show up. However, with your file, i've left it good 10+ minutes and the preview hasn't showed up and if i try to export, it hangs. Hangman Posted March 19 Author Share Posted March 19 Hi @stokerg, Thanks for confirming re the status, i.e., not yet logged… I should have said 0.2 mm rather than 2 mm height, that fails from the outset as does creating a pie shape and making the inner radius around 99.9%, so basically very thin shapes… I’m unsure the thickness required before it no longer fails… This all came about as a result of this post… 24 minutes ago, stokerg said: I think theres a bit more to it than just the small shape and dashed line style. That makes sense to me in terms of the issue itself because exporting the file using the PDF (flatten) preset will also export the file without issue. The file will export to all raster-based file formats, JPEG, PNG, TIFF and so on... Doesn't your screengrab show that Publisher has 'hung'... The app doesn't crash, it only hangs resulting in a Force Quit because the app becomes unresponsive.
