Designer: Is it possible to make everything black/white (saturation = 0) under an object (layer)?

Recommended Posts

I have a multi layer graphic on which I want to make a certain area shaped by a layer object appear in bw (i. e. saturation = 0). I was fiddling around with adaptations and masks (which behave different to AD1) but I didn't get it working. Is it possible at all?

Thank You very much. 😊

A multi layer graphic is quite vague. Here is something simple.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I am sure it is. The right way may depend on your document + your detailed desire.
Simple 1-click solution: use a blend mode to desaturate the shape object.
