Bit Disappointed Posted March 7, 2024 Posted March 7, 2024 Select all on current level Here is a feature request that truly comes from the heart and from concrete needs. If you look at the attached video with a constructed example, this is my typical illustration day. I have a lot of objects created in a hierarchy. Many times, I have grouped some objects along the way, other objects are pulled inside another object. This hierarchy can go many levels down, a true tree of complexity. When I later need to change attributes for all objects in a group - or inside another object - there is no shortcut to select all objects at exactly that level. Select all and select all on current layer do everything else. I mentioned it in a thread when you introduced Select all on current layer, and the advice I got can't be used or used meaningfully, and they actually prove in themselves that there is a lack of a select all on current layer level or whatever you want to call the function. As one of Designer's strengths is that it's a pleasure to work with grouping and layers inside other layers, I assume that my working method is much more widespread than using classic layers slavishly, as I don't really see the advantage and difference so clearly in Designer, as in other programs. And even if you work with layers in classic style, you will be in the same situation as you see in my video, grouped sub-elements, and much more. My personal need is that everything should be selected at that level; elements, groups, whatever. Just so I don't have to do it manually. By the way, it's particularly bad to have to select everything at the same level on the iPad, so think about an obviously easy and accessible tablet version (in addition to a keyboard shortcut) of this, if you create the functionality. layers.mov ronnyb and jhgriggs 2 Quote I simply no longer believe that there are any professional graphic designers here. Everything follows suit. Just everything.
ronnyb Posted March 8, 2024 Posted March 8, 2024 I agree this is also a sore point in my workflow with complex designs and deep layer hierarchies. What's missing is a Select Siblings command, right after the existing Select Parent command. Also I tried using the Select Top command, then holding Shift and the Select Bottom command, but unfortunately it didn't behave as expected (extend the selection from top layer to bottom layer in the stack), so perhaps with these two commands we could easily work with Sibling layers on the same layer level.... Meliora spero Posted May 5, 2024 Posted May 5, 2024 +1 Absolutely needed! Quote Serif, did you foolishly fill the usability specialist role you advertised internally? If so, be transparent with your customers. Continuing without proper UX expertise both insults and affects your entire customer base.
