Martin Diestelmann Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 The file is 5,7 MB and is stored on iCloud. I can open the file from my iPad and from my Laptop (M1, 16 GByte, Sanoma), but it takes hours to load the file on my iMac (M3, 24 GByte, Sanoma). Quote
MikeTO Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 Hi Martin. Did you just upgrade to Sonoma? There's a known issue where a fresh install of Sonoma needs to sync files before they'll load at a normal speed in Affinity. Regardless, check the file in Finder and ensure that it is fully downloaded (click the iCloud icon) and then try opening it in Publisher. If that doesn't work, try making a copy and then opening the copy. bluegray Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 (edited) I'm also having the same problem on M1 Mac Studio with 32 GB ram and Sonoma. Takes >5 min just to open an affinity publisher document (on local storage, already downloaded from dropbox) that has embedded SVG images and a total file size of ~ 30Mb. A different 100Mb file I have takes extremely long. I tried quitting the app, shutting down, etc. The application just goes unresponsive. It's really interfering with usefulness for my research purposes where I want to store SVG images to track outputs. Edited July 14, 2024 by bluegray Quote
Hangman Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Hi @bluegray and welcome to the forums, Have you tried Disabling 'iCloud Drive' for each entry as referenced in this Known Issue post in the FAQ section of the forum... If that makes no difference could you upload your 100 Mb file so we can take a look to see if there are any issues with the file itself... bluegray Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 (edited) Hi @Hangman Thanks for the tip - it gave me an idea. I am not using iCloud Drive for these files - I'm using Dropbox and I thought the files were already on my local computer since I could see a green check. However, I noticed that after I reset the items to "Make files available offline", it seemed to have increased the speed for the 30 Mb file. The 100 Mb file is still slow I'm noticing. I can't share the files bc it has research images, but perhaps this has partially addressed the problem. The 100 Mb file has a lot of embedded SVG files (>50), but the slow loading time is only on the Mac. My windows machine doesn't have this same problem and it's also 32Gb ram. bluegray Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 (edited) The document loads fine on windows and iPadOS apps. A few other points about the 100Mb document opening on Mac Studio computer. The document shows a "loading" screen that relatively quickly completes. I then can see one page in the set of 18 pages. But the other pages appear blank. This is the point where the app just fails to respond and right clicking on the icon shows "App is not responding". Edited July 20, 2024 by bluegray Quote
