Paresh Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Assets are checked in View but suddenly only a few remain. Any ideas? thanks. Quote
GarryP Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Are you sure that you are using the application in which the Assets were created/imported? For instance, if you create an asset in Designer it won’t normally (automatically) be available in Photo or Publisher. To get an an Asset Category to be seen in all your Affinity applications you can Link it via the Assets Panel ‘hamburger’ icon. Quote
Paresh Posted February 19, 2024 Author Posted February 19, 2024 thanks, yes i only use photo, the previous version. Maybe that has something to do with it. Quote
GarryP Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 14 minutes ago, Paresh said: the previous version Does that mean that you were using V1 and then installed V2 but your assets in V1 were not automatically imported into V2, or something else? Quote
Paresh Posted February 19, 2024 Author Posted February 19, 2024 no I never installed v2, v1 is still challenging enough for me Quote
GarryP Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Does you mean that you were using an earlier version of V1, but recently upgraded to a later version of V1, and after doing so, you have noticed that some assets are missing, or something else? Quote
Paresh Posted February 19, 2024 Author Posted February 19, 2024 Thanks for yr help Gary! No I have the latest version of v1 & haven't made any recent changes. Maybe it's a computer issue & not AP? Quote
GarryP Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 I’m not the best person to advise on problems with assets as I don’t use them very much. I do remember reading some threads where assets have gone missing but, if memory serves me, on those occasions the whole asset collection went missing – the assets file had been ‘corrupted’ and replaced with a new empty one, or something like that – rather than just some of them. (But my memory isn’t great.) Hopefully one of the experts will be along soon to advise further. While you are waiting, would you be able to give some idea about what’s gone missing? For instance, is it some whole categories, or just some sub-categories, or just some individual assets, or a mix of those? Also, have a look to see if you have a backup of the Photo application folder somewhere. You might be able to restore the assets from a backup if you have one but someone will need to know if you have one before they can help you to restore from it. Quote
Paresh Posted February 19, 2024 Author Posted February 19, 2024 Thanks. It's just the stock assets that came with AP, like fog. There used to be about 15 fog assets, now only 3 or 4. I don't use them too often either so I don't want to take up more time, I just wondered if there was a quick fix. Quote
GarryP Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 I didn’t think Photo came with any assets. I’ve just looked in my 1.10.6 installation and there’s none there. Maybe you got them via the Serif Store, possibly as (part of) a special deal or something. You might like to look in the My Account section of Photo, or the Serif Store; you might be able to install them from there. Callum 1 Quote
Paresh Posted February 19, 2024 Author Posted February 19, 2024 Wow you were right! I went to my account and it said I wasn't registered for some reason, so I just signed in and there were my assets. Actually they were free, it was several years ago in one of the AP updates as I recall. You could check your account and see if there are any free ones that you can download if you want. That was brilliant, thank you for hanging in with a trivial issue! Callum 1 Quote
GarryP Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 You’re welcome. Good to know it was an easy ‘fix’, although there’s still the problem of why they disappeared in the first place. (I don't know if there could be a way of figuring that out.) Quote
