Screen Refresh Affinity Suite

Recommended Posts

Hi I searched for a bit and was unable to find anything related to this. I have had a perplexing issue since using Affinity and it seems to have become more frequent with 2 than 1 and it applies to all three programs in the suite.

While editing I have noticed there are times when the screen does not refresh to show the latest change to the work. For example I am working on a text right now in Designer and made it a compound so I can add strokes to the text. When I click into the text and edit it the change takes place but the screen does not show the update, will show a space where added character is but not the character. I have tried refreshing the window by minimize maximize, nor go, or scrolling the graphic off screen then back on, as I thought it might just be screen refresh. If I save close and reopen it is there. I have noticed this more with text than other applications but also occurs with objects on occasion.

For reference this is my laptop configuration:

I have used the Nividia application to set the GPU to the T100 and also in each program have done the same

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank you.

HW Acceleration off, or try Low quality, or change Renderer.

While some people blame driver versions and other factors, those issue plagued me on all platforms (Windows, Mac, iPad) and a multitude of OS Versions and CPU/GPU vendors, and even when using WARP renderer which is fully Affinity software and not relying on anything else. It is far more probable unfixed bugs or fundamental design bugs in Affinity apps. In many cases, changing the zoom factor triggers a redraw.

If possible use navigator panel and enlarge it. If you see any rendering discrepancies between canvas and navigator panel preview you know it is a Affinity bug. If both show same content the likelihood is on GPU driver issue.

Always compare WARP driver (e.g. by having a beta installed in parallel) to openin& the same file in Retail version with HW accel active.
