Joe_tFb Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Hi there, For some reasons my Affinity Photo and designer (v2.3.1) do not go beyond the splash screen. I have no idea why, it was working fine a few days ago. My PC runs Windows 11, and is up to date as of today (23/01/24). I tried to start the software in safe mode, but that didn't even get me to the splash screen (I assume it is not possible to run the app in safe mode) I attached a couple of crash reports. Could you let me know ASAP what I should do? The only thing I have done is updating a couple of drivers, but everything else works as normal on the machine. Joe_tFb Posted January 23, 2024 Author Posted January 23, 2024 (edited) PS: I tried reinstalling Affinity Phot, but no effect. I also tried opening the app as an administrator, but no luck either. Edited January 23, 2024 by Joe_tFb Quote
Pšenda Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 A strikingly similar situation where applications worked reliably until recently. Maybe you could try to find some common denominator - like doing an OS update, driver update, etc. Quote Affinity Store (MSI/EXE): Affinity Suite (ADe, APh, APu) 2.5.7.2948 (Retail) Dell OptiPlex 7060, i5-8500 3.00 GHz, 16 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630, Dell P2417H 1920 x 1080, Windows 11 Pro, Version 24H2, Build 26100.2605. Staff stokerg Posted January 24, 2024 Staff Posted January 24, 2024 Hi @Joe_tFband Welcome to the Forums, The DMP files point to the crash happening in amdocl64.dll which is your graphics card driver. It's likely having trouble with hardware acceleration which is enabled by default in Affinity. If you can just try starting Affinity while holding down the control key and you'll get shown a screen with several tick boxes on. 3 options will be ticked, which you can untick and then tick the box for 'Disable Hardware Acceleration' and click on Clear. Does Affinity then open? Quote
Joe_tFb Posted January 24, 2024 Author Posted January 24, 2024 Hi guys, thanks for responding. I did a system restore going back a few days ago, and it is back on track. I suspect one of the driver update went wrong somehow. Thanks again! stokerg 1 Quote
