velarde Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Hello: Wanted to ask how can I keep an object selected after I create it. Not sure, but I "feel" that this has changed in the last couple of updates. For example I'm working in Designer. I create a circle with the Elipse tool and after I create it I want to keep it selected so I can move it and refine it... Right now after I create any new element (Shape, text objects, etc) I have to first change to the Move tool and THEN manually select it. A lot of extra clicks.. I feel (I may be mistaken) that this wasn't the behavior before. Any suggestions for this...? Is there a preference I should check or am I just going nuts..? Thanks in advance. GarryP Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 There should be a “Keep selected” check box on the Context Toolbar. Quote
Pšenda Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 (edited) Disabling this default function is only appropriate if you need to draw a shape in the same position as the one currently drawn. If not switched off, the previously drawn shape is moved. But you can use the CTRL button, which cancels the selection of the object, and start drawing the shape - thanks to the pressed CTRL, it is drawn symmetrically from the center, but then the CTRL is released, and the drawing takes place as needed. Disabling the Keep button is therefore not necessary. Thanks GarryP! 😀 The "Keep selected" checkbox must have been unchecked somehow, I had to look for it. Been driving me mad for these past weeks... Hey PSendda.. thanks for the video! Fixed it now. and will surely remember it if it happens again Pšenda 1 Quote ------------------------ Fernando Velarde www.velarde.com Instagram.com/soyfervelarde
GarryP Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 You’re welcome. I’ve heard of this happening before but no-one (that I know of) has been able to reproduce it without wanting it to happen so it’s difficult to tell if there’s some tiny ‘buglet’ in there somewhere which is doing it by itself 'randomly' or whether it’s always just by user accident. velarde 1 Quote
velarde Posted January 12, 2024 Author Posted January 12, 2024 My theory (I may be mistaken) is that this happened after a .1 update. I'm pretty sure I did NOT deselect the "Keep Selected" checkbox in Designer. Well, just happy to get my workflow back... thanks all Quote ------------------------ Fernando Velarde www.velarde.com Instagram.com/soyfervelarde
