This question has been since long time as I was researching but not a concrete answer.
I have a document of 2,015 pages pretty much text no images but some lines and some shapes like rectangles

I have a pretty good laptop I can handle 3D complex files and renderings.
and to continue working in my publisher file is so painful slow.
is there anything someone has figure it out regarding this issue?  I cannot divide my file size due to hyperlinks.

Publisher 2 allows you to break up the file into individual chapter files, which will still allow your use of hyperlinks. Look up Books in the Help or Tutorials, or in the unofficial Publisher User Guide provided by user MikeTo:

Does your file contain the history of all the changes? It can become heavy with time…

  • From the File menu, deselect Save History with Document

I apologise for any approximations in my English. It is not my mother tongue.

Also, if the 2000 pages are basically all one long story (series of linked frames), breaking the story up into separate stories will improve performance.

Refer to the Books chapter of my Publisher manual for the pros and cons of each type of document structure.

Cheers
