Sad user Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Hi everyone, so I bought ipad 11 pro few years ago, also bought Affinity designer v1 with it and didn't use that. After years (now) I started to use v1, did large document with few elements in it, basically it was about 8000x3000 so it was large, but in that document was few colors, 4 doors and that's it. I went to appstore and check for updates and found v2 which I have to buy, so I was like ok no prob, so I want to export my files before start using new version, but I'm stuck at endless loading 'Generating export...' of psd file. Program is able to export png (about 30mb), or .svg (about 12mb), but on .psd which could have about 300mb maybe? By guess. I'm stuck about 20 minutes now and nothing happening, saw some posts on reddit that some people have same problem with v1 and v2. So I want to ask, if there is some solution? I have actual ios, probably some old version of v1, because I cannot see it in appstore for update (I have version 1.10.24). I don't want to waste my money on v2, if there will be same problem, maybe hardware in ipad 11 pro is just too low? But I don't think I did some super challenging file to export. Also is it possible to connect ipad to pc and use it as graphic tablet? Don't want to buy some expensive graphic tablet with display, bucause I bought that ipad for it. Thanks for help and have a nice day. Quote
Sad user Posted December 27, 2023 Author Posted December 27, 2023 UPDATE: So even blank file 8000x3000 is unable to export as .psd But smaller files like 1000x1000 are working. I used to use some basic app called Graphic for ipad and worked with similar huge sizes and ipad was able to export .psd (that was about 500mb files), so not sure if problem is in ipad hardware. Staff stokerg Posted January 2, 2024 Staff Posted January 2, 2024 Hi @Sad userand Welcome to the Forums, We do have a bug logged where the export can get stuck on Generating Export and this normally happens when the PDF file is either too large in dimensions or would be over 2GB in size. On the Desktop version, you would get a warning on the Export Window about this but sadly, the iPad version doesn't have this warning and just gets stuck on the Generating Export message. PSD files have a size limit in dimensions of 30000px x 3000px or 2gb file size limit. So any files that exceed that, will get stuck on Generating Export. This is true of V1 and also V2. Bit Disappointed 1 Quote
Sad user Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 Ok thank you, and yesterday I was able to copy and paste layers between v1 and v2, now it's not reacting, so can't pasty my layers from v1 to v2. Quote
