Charles Harris Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 I've just bought Affinity Publisher and I can't get it to print in colour. The printer works fine with other apps. But the file prints greyscale. I've tried creating a pdf and that's greyscale as well. Using Windows 10 and a Xerox C400 printer. Any advice would be welcome. Quote
Charles Harris Posted December 16, 2023 Author Posted December 16, 2023 Using Affinity Publisher v2.3.0 Quote
Charles Harris Posted December 16, 2023 Author Posted December 16, 2023 OK, I've found that when I select very strong colours, it will print colour. However, it seems to struggle with more delicate colours, which come out as grey, both in print and in pdf. See attached screenshot and pdftest for colours.pdftest for colours.pdf Quote

Charles Harris Posted December 17, 2023 Author Posted December 17, 2023 Hi Walt, thank you for your prompt reply. I've long been an admirer of Serif products, but this is a puzzler. I've been looking further into the issue, and have found what I think the problem is. Affinity is showing all greys as shades of brown/beige, rather than true grey. The background to the larger rectangle above is actually grey - ie all RGB numbers are the same! (See attached screenshot). However it shows on screen as pale brown. This is not a problem with my monitor as it shows grey accurately with all other programs. Indeed, Affinity Pub shows grey accurately when I select greyscale! But in colour view, it reverts to this light brown. The same shows if I select "greys" on the right hand side. They come up as shades of brown again. See attached screenshots. I've also attached the afpub file as suggested. BTW the same happens with Affinity Design and Affinity Photo. Any suggestions as to how I can fix this to ensure that Affinity programs show greys (and presumably slight tints too) accurately in colour view? Very best Charles test for colours.afpub Quote
GarryP Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 This might be due to your monitor and/or colour management set-up. You might like to look at this advice: See also: Here’s what your document looks like on my machine (note how the greys look): walt.farrell 1 Quote
Charles Harris Posted December 17, 2023 Author Posted December 17, 2023 Thanks, GarryP. It all looks rather complicated, at least at my level of competence, so I'll gird my loins and give it a go when I can focus properly, over the Christmas period. I'll report back. Quote
Charles Harris Posted December 21, 2023 Author Posted December 21, 2023 Well, I've tried everything suggested in the previous posts you link to and the yellow tint is still there 😞 I've changed the colour management, checked with Fullscreen Photo Viewer (no tint there). Any further suggestions would be most welcome. Quote
