Thomas Bloem Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Hi there, I just finished working on this affinity publisher file when I suddenly received an Error message: C:\Users\sourc\Documents\SOURCE MATRIX\LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER\2024\NEWSLETTERS 24\APRIL 24 NL\newsletter Failed to open file. The file appears to be corrupted. AFFINITY PUBLISHER - V2 Operating system - Windows 11 Browser Chrome Please can you ask one of the developers to restore the file for me. R C-R Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 You have attached an aftemplate file, not an afpub file. Is that the file you meant to show us? Staff NathanC Posted December 17, 2023 Staff Posted December 17, 2023 Welcome to the forums @Thomas Bloem, Unfortunately your .aftemplate file doesn't appear to be recoverable by any standard methods, so I'll get the file logged with the developers for further investigation. Please note that this is primarily for the purpose of investigating the cause of the corruption to help improve the app's file handling, and there's no guarantee that your file can be recovered or a timeframe/ETA we can provide. Therefore, it would be best to revert to a backup if one is available. Quote
Marie Prunault Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 I have exactly the same situation. Very often... today again... It´s terrible. I don´t know how to prevent this. Maybe because I work on the cloud (Pcloud). ClubCapacity_A2_V1.afpub Quote
Staff NathanC Posted December 20, 2023 Staff Posted December 20, 2023 Welcome to the forums @Marie Prunault, Unfortunately your file is also not recoverable using the standard methods so i'll get it logged as i've done with Thomas's file. If you're running into file corruptions on a more consistent basis and you're opening these files and saving them back to cloud storage this could very well be related. To confirm this going forward if you make sure to open files from and save to your local disk only while actively working on the document, and then move files back over to your cloud storage as required and see if this alleviates the corruptions. Manar Mb Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Hi everyone, I'm gonna have to join the bandwagon, my file is also corrupt, I was working on it 7 days ago and suddenly it won't open, It would be great to know what are the standard methods for recovery, or ways to avoid that from happening in the future, Any help would be much appreciated! Staff NathanC Posted January 11, 2024 Staff Posted January 11, 2024 Welcome to the forums @Manar Mb, Unfortunately your file isn't recoverable using the standard methods available to us, and a hex editor indicates that large sections of the file are corrupted/missing entirely. I'll log it with the developers for further investigation, but if you could confirm the following information first that would be great: - What OS are you using? - What version of Affinity Publisher are you using? - Where was the file saved to/opened from (E.G Local Storage, External Drive, USB Drive, Cloud Drive) Many thanks Quote
Manar Mb Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Hi Nathan, Thank you for reaching out to me, here are the answers to your questions: - OS Name: Microsoft Windows 11 Home - Affinity Publisher 2.3.0 - It was saved to an external drive, and opened from there (I wouldn't have done so had I known earlier that it's a problem) Quote
