brillig37 Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 I have just changed my Mac Mini to an M2 Pro and my existing Publisher files will not open in V2.3.0 - Publisher opens OK but if I try to open a file nothing happens Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 Nothing? Or does it at least show a "Loading 1 document" message? Are your files stored in iCloud? If so, it might simply be iCloud resynchronizing, which can take a long time for some reason. brillig37 Posted December 15, 2023 Author Posted December 15, 2023 It is now opening correctly and seems just to have had a long delay on initial opening. I am running OS 13.6.3 Ventura and have all my files on my hard drive. I was running Mac OS 12 on my earlier Mac Mini without any problems. I have the same problem with Affinity Designer 2 & Photo 2 but so far after 5 hours neither has opened a file. Attached is a screen grab of Designer after I try to open a document. Quote

Where are the files on your hard drive? If they're in your Documents folder and you haven't changed your iCloud settings, they will be synced from iCloud and it will take time. You can speed up the process by manually downloading the files you need - click the iCloud status icon to the right of the filename in the Finder. Also, Designer's user interface is missing in your screenshot. Try pressing Tab (after you're done trying to load a file) to restore the user interface. Good luck. brillig37 Posted December 15, 2023 Author Posted December 15, 2023 My files are in my Documents folder but I have nothing synced with iCloud. I tried pressing tab but all it does is turn the Studio panel on and off and it doesn't restore the interface which had disappeared as soon as I pressed 'Open'. Quote
MikeTO Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Please try restarting your Mac and then starting Affinity with Ctrl held down (press and hold it immediately after clicking until you see the Clear User Data screen). Then clear your user data. I don't know if it will make a difference but it's worth a try. brillig37 Posted December 15, 2023 Author Posted December 15, 2023 Thank you very much, that seems to have solved the problem. Apologies if you have received multiple replies but the post did not appear to go and I did wish to thank you. MikeTO 1 Quote
