yulandadm Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Whenever I export as template in photo vs 2, affinity saves it as a publisher vs 1 template. When I try to open it, file says that it can't open because there are vs. 2 elements in it and closes. Now, if I open file as photo vs 2, it works as it's supposed to work. As you can see in the photo, the I have the original files (which doesn't have the icon on it) are AFPHOTO files and the templates are affinity publisher files. I am on windows 11 if that helps. walt.farrell Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 It sounds like you have both V1 and V2 installed. In that case, you need to tell Windows which version to use when opening files. Windows only knows one application to use for each filetype (.afphoto, .afdesign, .afpub, or .aftemplate), and for that filetype it will use that application whether the file was created by V1 or V2. That makes it difficult to use double-click to open one of the files. You need to use drag/drop onto an open application or you need to right-click on a file and choose Open With and pick the application and version you want to use. As far as Windows showing the templates as Publisher documents, again it can only show one application icon per filetype, and it just chooses one.
