Old version of Photo and new version of Publisher don't mix

I'm working on my PC with a new version of Publisher. My PC has an old version of Photo and I used it to create part of an illustration to be used in a Publisher document. The document now won't open. I do have the new version of Photo on my tablet. Is there anyway I can open the document in Publisher?

It's not clear if you're saying that File > Edit in ... doesn't work, or if you're saying that you Saved a .afphoto file in Photo 2 and you can't Open it using Publisher V1.

It is correct that "Edit in" won't work unless the versions (and releases) match.

It is also correct that a .afphoto file saved in V2 cannot be Opened in a V1 application. If that's what you mean, Export the file as JPG, PNG, or TIFF and Publisher should be able to use it.

Thanks, Walt. I was hoping there was a work around. I will have to clean up my PC and install that new version!

If I got it right you have access to …

… APublisher V2
… APhoto V1 + V2

and you want to open / access an .afphoto V1 document. – It should be possible with each of your mentioned apps and versions.

But it won't work with every existing Affinity workflow to open files. Apart from "Edit in…" mentioned by Walt also the APhoto Persona will be accessible in APub V2 only if with APhoto V2 is installed there, too.

So, if you purchased APhoto V2 with the Universal License you can install it on your PC and make the APhoto Persona available in APub. Vice versa you could also or alternatively install APub V2 on you tablet.
