TKS Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Affinity Publisher 2.2.1, Mac OS Monterey 12.7, Wacom tablet, Apple Bluetooth mouse Hi, if I want to insert from "Spaces and Tabs", I would normally type, say 5mm…then I would place the cursor between the "5" and the "mm" and right-click to choose the insert space I want. If I do that (or Ctrl+click) the entire word "5mm" gets selected. This is not ideal for my workflow. I could stop the cursor after the "5", right+click/Ctrl+click and insert the space I want, and then continue typing "mm". That will work. Likewise, I can place the cursor where I desire and choose to insert a space from the "Text" menu correctly. I imagine that I can give these various spaces shortcuts so I can invoke them on the fly. I know that a certain word processor used to have by default that the entire word be selected when the cursor was placed inside the word somewhere, but one could turn that off. I have not been able to find if this is the case in the preferences in Publisher. I would like for the entire word not to be selected when I right+click with the cursor placed between glyphs in the word, please. Thomas loukash 1 Quote
MikeTO Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Hi @TKS and welcome to the forums. I rather like the right-click = select word shortcut. Have you considered adding a keyboard shortcut for the space you want entered so that you don't have to move your hand from the keyboard to the mouse? That would be even more convenient. For example, if you type a lot of en spaces you could assign a shortcut to it with Settings > Shortcuts. Even here in the browser window and its text input field. 6 hours ago, TKS said: I know that a certain word processor used to have by default that the entire word be selected when the cursor was placed inside the word somewhere, but one could turn that off. Thinking of it, that sounds like a very reasonable idea. +1 Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
