How to force a hard (not feathered) edge of selections made with the smart selection brush.

Recommended Posts

Often I make a selection with the smart selection brush and it initially look great, but after copying the selection and zooming in reveals many pesky semitransparent pixels, ruining what I intended to be sharp edges.

Is there a way to force the marching ants selection to be a hard edge in lieu of a semitransparent edge?
Attempts to erase semitransparent pixels results in erasure on both sides of the marching ants selection.

On Desktop, unticking (unchecking) “Matte Edges” in the Refine Selection dialog might get you what you want, up to a point, unless I’ve misunderstood your requirements. (You can check the edge more easily if you switch to the “Black and White” preview.)

I don’t know if this facility is available on iPad, or where it is if it is, but this might help you to find it.
