Publisher 2.2.0, how to align an image to the center of a text line

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

I'm creating a legend of symbols for one of my projects on Affinity publisher 2.2.0.

I created a text box, wrote the symbols' description and then copy/paste the images at the beginning of each text line.

However, the images align to the bottom of the text:

but I want them to align to the center of the text, kinda like it appears below:

How can I do that?

Thank you!

Welcome to the forums @Magjus

There are probably various ways to do this via the Pinning Panel (e.g. Inline, Offset) but, without knowing more specific details about your requirements, I would suggest using a table instead so that the software can calculate the positions for you via the alignment functionalities.

See my quickly-made attached video where I show two methods.

If you need more information about either method then just tell us what you are stuck on.

Note: Tables cannot flow between pages so, if your legend is large, you might need to use the pinning method.

Hi @Magjus and welcome to the forums,

The Pinning Panel will help you here and using Cap Height should keep your text on the same baseline...

Which one? Pinning or with a table?

@Oufti you are right, the pinning one, fast and simple.

Just a side note, sometimes the text is so long that I have two or three lines instead of just one. In this case, with the pinning method the image will stay at the center of the first line. I wanted to center it to all of the text lines, so I did it by starting a new paragraph for each line and setting their line spacing to 0.

I hope this will be helpful to other people 😁.

Thank you again!
