Prevent AutoClose

I have an open curve shape.   The path tries to snap and autoclose the curve when I move the end node near the start point (red node). How can I prevent / toggle this autoclose or maybe the snapping ?

You can disable auto close using the auto close button on the context tool bar at the top, next to the fill option.

I realized I have been working with auto close disabled.  Snap is also disabled.   But when I move the node near the end node, it snaps closed anyway, and the autoclose button toggles back to “closed” state.   So frustrating !

For some reason, no matter what I do, that end node has a “gravity” or extra preference / smaller tolerance.  And it doesn’t seem to matter whether snaps are on or off.  I’m still hoping this is something simple that I have missed.  

But it’s seriously affecting my workflow (and my patience, lol !)

I'm seeing the same behavior. All I can suggest as a workaround is to zoom in further.

Walt, zooming in does work better , though it makes it hard to see how the changes affect the composition as a whole .   Anyway, your suggestion got me unstuck so I could move on.
