Kimberly Smith Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 I downloaded the fonts Raleway and Open Sans from Google Fonts onto my laptop, but I am not able to access the full font family on Affinity Designer. I have tried removing the fonts and redownloading them a few times to see if that fixes the issue, but unfortunately that didn't work. Below is a screenshot of what the font Raleway shows on the control panel of my laptop, and the full family has been successfully downloaded. The full font family is also available on Microsoft Word (see below) However when I go to select a font on Affinity Designer 2, I only have the option for either "thin" or "thin italic". It's not an issue of the fonts being misnamed in Affinity Designer, because the font doesn't change when I scroll through the different options. I'm experiencing the same issue with Open Sans, and I am at a loss about what to do to fix this issue. I initially reached out to the IT company the company I work for uses, Eitex, and they weren't able to fix the issue. I am not not the most tech savvy person and I only started using Affinity Designer a few months ago so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Quote
Hangman Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 Hi @Kimberly Smith and welcome to the forums, Affinity apps don't currently support variable fonts which is why you're seeing them listed in the font menu the way you are. You would need to uninstall the variable versions and then download and install non-variable versions for them to work correctly... Specifically, install the fonts in the "static" folder in the unzipped download.
