Affinity Publisher - How to enlarge / upscale a picture to 300dpi?

Recommended Posts

I am doing the layout of a photo journal, size A4, portrait. Sometimes I am using one picture for two pages (= size A3).

In Indesign I then see that the dpi size is too small, so I enlarge/push/upscale the photo in Photoshop - just putting the required width (42,6 cm) in the corresponding field (screenshots attached; with Adobe I am using the German versions).

In Affinity Publisher 2 (2.1.1.) the actual dpi size is indicated in the top left corner (238 dpi) (screenshot attached).

My question: How do I upscale the picture in Affinity Publilsher 2? Or do I have to use Affinity Photo 2?

Thanks in advance for your help.

In APub you can upscale a linked image in APub's Photo Persona: Select the Image layer (not its parent Picture Frame) > Click the "Edit Image" button > choose "Resize Document". If the image is embedded you either make it linked first – or, more cumbersome, upsize it in APub with the MoveTool + rasterize it to get it resampled upscaled, then downsize it as needed, if wanted you can return it to an image layer.

But note that if it is Linked, then your resizing will affect the original image, which may not be what you want.

True, … whereas the OP's workflow comparison with ID + PS appears to indicate that it is wanted to edit the original linked file. Nevertheless, a file copy of the image may be used for the ID / APub layout (even regardless of a different or same file name).
