HI folks, I have a set of files from Telescope Live and find that stacking of the HOS files in 3 groups fails because of alignment. I can stack the individual H, O and S files which works ok but message says a few in each group do not align. How can I proceed with each group? Maybe edit each group and at the end paste together as tiff files? Using APv1. Thanks for your advice.

Update: I contacted Telescope Live and got the answer that they have often heard that there are problems with Affinity Photo's stacking, while other software does work.  That is really not what I wanted to hear. I have not tried different settings for the stacking. Maybe this would bring something. There are about 30 HSO FITS files in the set. Hoping I do not have to go to another software for stacking. Thanks and regards

Update: I have tried changing the stacking options. Apparently it is necessary to reload the files for this. But stacking failed again with the alignment message.

@irandar Can you confirm you workflow to the point of receiving the alignment message and also provide me with a download link for your files via DM? If not, I can arrange for a DropBox link to be sent to you to upload the files to.

Hi @Lee D, The work flow was as follows: Select "New Astrophotography Stack", then adding the Light frames in groups, Group 1 Ha, Group 2 OIII, Group 3 SII, (all frames seemed to be ok) then chose Stack then came the alignment message after stacking. There are about 30 FITS. I tossed out the zip file and would be glad to have your Dropbox link. Thanks, Irving

I've got them to test the stacking process. Can you confirm what you have the Type set to for each file group and are you changing any other options?

@Lee D As I wrote earlier the work flow was to select "New Astrophotography Stack", then adding the Light frames in groups, Group 1 H-alpha, Group 2 OIII, Group 3 SII, (all frames seemed to be ok) then chose Stack then came the non-alignment message after stacking.  No other options were changed. The Type was set to Light Frames for all but the File group numbers were changed for each and also the filters were changed for each. I have done this many times. Thanks

@Lee D

Hi I guess there is no news yet about my stacking problem.  In the meantime I have another question about Affinity Photo's astro ability. An Internet contact has sent me a large number of files he has taken of a nebula, SH2-124. He has gotten a very good result. He is a very advanced astro guy with good equipment. I am pasting all the info below and want to ask you Affinity folks whether AP can handle so many files, a total of 370 fits gathered over about 20h. Thanks for any guidance you can give. Best regards, Irving

Hi, The stacking of the above SH2-124 RuSHOandNTSfini.jpg.b66987c0e0a77f46a5e222a912555440.jpgfiles: 78 lights HSO and all darks and flats worked out fine. Took only 3min on my iMac. Still waiting for your verdict on the TL files that did not stack. Attached the result. Regards, Irving

@irandar I've been testing but they also fail to align for me. I've asked another member of staff to take a look as they've done a lot of astrophotography to see if they can suggest why they aren't.

Hi @Lee D, Had a bit of trouble stacking again. These were files I got from a tutorial about Astro Pixel Processor. About 80 lights LRGB and maybe 80 calibration files. My iMac 2017 crashed twice during stacking and sent reports to Apple. The third time was a charm and all went well. Stacking took about 10min. Thought AP would like to know. Here is the edited result for NGC 292.
