Application Guidance (split)

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am a NEWBY in every sence of the word.  I bought Affinity as part of a package to build some golf course yardage books. Everything I needed was supplied by the package developer and it worked great for building those books. So my knowledge is limited and specific, the package told me how to go from a to b to c and so on.

Now I have a need to draw a landscape design for my home and it looks like affinity would be a great tool to do this with. I have uploaded my plat map and started toying around with some of the tools. Watching videos and trying to go back to the beginning and actually learn how to use the application.

Are there templates or packages with items like trees and plants out there somewhere for free or purchase? (example I used to do a lot of Visio work and they had these types of templates)

Are there any specific tutorials or trainings that you would suggest for this type of work?

I found this file online and it looks like it was done with Affinity or a similar product, and I would like to produce something similar.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums @Spivey

Everything in that design can be done in the Affinity applications but I would suggest using Designer (you don’t say which Affinity application(s) you have, there are three).

As for trees, this thread may be of some use: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/188562-affinity-designer-stylised-maps/

As for tutorials and training, I would recommend starting with the official Affinity videos: https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/learn/

Then maybe search the Resources section of these forums for more information about specific things: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/11-resources/

If you get stuck on anything you can always ask a question about it here.

P.S. The OP of this thread seems to be doing a similar thing to you: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/163181-working-between-ipad-and-pc-and-artboards/

@Spivey

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums :)

Sorry, but I moved your post from the Introduce Yourself thread, because I thought it may lead to a longer conversation about your question and use of the applications. You are welcome to post there as well with something like your first paragraph or a perhaps little bit more personal stuff about yourself.
