purplie
Summary: Although I choose the option to use "Linked" instead of "Embedded" images, the image becomes embedded upon export to SVG. None of the export options seem to affect this. Application: Affinity Designer 2.1.1 OS: MacOS 13.5 Reproducable: Yes Steps to reproduce: 1. Create new document. In File>Document Setup, choose Image Placement Policy=Prefer Embedded. 2. Drag an image into the document. You can also add other elements like paths. 3. In Window>Resource Manager, verify the image is Linked, not Embedded. 4. File>Export. Use the SVG "For export" preset. Tweaking the options or changing the Preset seems to make no difference. 5. Expected result: SVG document that links to the image document. Actual result: SVG document with embedded image document. Example files: attached test-file.afdesign exported.svg
walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. That Placement Policy applies to how the images are handled within the native Affinity document when you Place them. It is not related to the Export process at all, and images in the Exported files are always Embedded. purplie
Hi Walt. Thanks. Just to confirm, you're saying that's the officially designed behavior; you're not merely confirming my observation? If so, I guess I'm requesting it be an export option to honor the same policy.
