Nightowl Posted August 5, 2023 Share Posted August 5, 2023 I have a small image (an icon, really) which I want to change slightly. To do this I'd planned to copy part of the image and paste that over another part of the image (text) to hide what's there. Then I'm going to add new text over it. It's not too simple because the background is graded, and I want to maintain that. Essentially, I want to copy the graded bit to the left of the M. and paste it over the "Zero" text. I know I can cut the section using Cmd and drag, but what ever happened to Cmd+C and Cmd+V? Thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Paul Mc Posted August 5, 2023 Share Posted August 5, 2023 Hi @Nightowl, this had me fooled at the start too 🙂 I think that you are probably copying and pasting the whole layer and not the selection. Try, selecting the rectangle and then using Copy Flattened and then you should see the marching ants outline the duplicated part on a new layer. Then drag the selection to where you want it. That should work fine, if you have pixels, but if you have an Image layer you'll need to Rasterize it, or use Copy Flattened as Paul suggested. That should be fine, if you have a Pixel layer. Can you show us a more complete screenshot, ideally the full application window, with the Layers panel visible, and the layer you're working on visible in it, and your selection showing on the screen? firstdefence Posted August 6, 2023 Share Posted August 6, 2023 You can use the rectangle selection tool to select a vertical band and then expand the selection over the zero text. Steps... Select the rectangle selection tool Make a vertical selection on the right side of the "zero' text Change to the Move Tool (V) Grab the left side handle and drag over the text to cover it Press CMD + D to deselect Merge layer if required else leave separate.
