UweN
Hello, in the book there are several chapters (individual Afpub files) with appropriately marked text passages as index and an empty file. How can I create an overall index in the blank file of all the chapters contained in the book? In Indesign CS6 you can mark that all files present in the book are included in the index with section name and page number. I have not found a corresponding option in version 2.1.1. Have I overlooked something or is the function not yet available? Thanks, Uwe
MikeTO
Hi Uwe, it's just automatic, you don't need to do anything. Add index entries to each of your chapter documents. Add the index to the back matter document. It should contain the index entries for all of the successive chapter files. If you insert the index and nothing happens, the book may not be aware of the index entries yet. For example, if you add the chapters to the book, save everything, close everything, open a chapter, index it and save it but don't have the book open while doing so, the book won't be aware that you indexed that chapter. So just open the book and its chapters and then insert the index. I just gave it another test with 2.1 and it worked fine for me.
