Photo - Glitch with Denoise Layer and Hardware Acceleration

Recommended Posts

The Denoise layer can cause glitches that remain even after rasterizing. This can be reproduced when using two separate Denoise layers:

Example files attached:

However, a single Denoise layer can also cause this behavior. When applying Denoise to a rasterized Fill layer ( just using a normal layer doesn't "work" ) I get this:

Example file:

Buggy 3.afphoto

Turning off OpenCL acceleration "fixes" these issues.

System info:

Windows 10 22H2 ( HDR enabled )

Affinity Photo 2.0.0+ ( currently 2.1.0 )

Hardware acceleration enabled ( Radeon 5700 XT, recent drivers for each AP version, currently 23.5.1 )

Hi @Zai,

Thanks for your succinct report with relevant information & files provided, this is certainly appreciated!

I can confirm that I have tested this here on 2 separate machines, one with HDR enabled in Windows, and one disabled - though unfortunately I've been unable to replicate this issue thus far.

I do however note that in my testing, both machines are using Nvidia GPUs, and I suspect this is the reason I have been unable to reproduce this issue.

Therefore I have logged this as a bug with our QA team, using your files and information above to request further testing, such that this can then be resolved in a future update.

I hope this helps :)

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

The issue "Live Noise Reduction with AMD GPU, Hardware Acceleration and HDR enabled causes rendering issues." (REF: AFP-6217) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.2.0.1925".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
