CyberAngel Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Ok, so I set these squares up, using the alignment and doing each row and then each column for spacing. Now, the question is can I change this spacing without having to go through each row and column manually? I would prefer to be able to select them all and modify the spacing in one hit. So far, I have found nothing that can achieve this. Also, rather than ask a separate question, can I link each shape to say a master shape, without turning it into a symbol? Making a change to say the size or rounded corners without selecting them all would be ideal. My searches have proved fruitless, so I am guessing that it is either turn it into a symbol or select them all to modify the shape. Quote
firstdefence Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 You can scale the object to make the gap bigger or smaller using the Transform Objects Separately (TOS) but you cannot move the objects. Select all of the rectangles and toggle the TOS icon to on, all the objects remain active but only one will have the edit nodes showing, manipulating that one manipulates all the remaining selection. ...and you will need to have them as symbols with instances of that symbol reflecting the master symbols properties. This is not going to achieve what I want, I had thought of that, but I wanted them to be evenly distributed, this can not be done both horizontally or vertically this way or am I missing something? 11 minutes ago, firstdefence said: ...and you will need to have them as symbols with instances of that symbol reflecting the master symbols properties. Can you clarify if you want to change the spacing by changing the size of the rectangles or do you need to keep the rectangles at their current size and just reduce the spacing between them? No, I do not, or at least not at the moment. All I did was eventually created a symbol, of the size I wanted. And dropped it in a 4x4 grid like this and tried to evenly space them in the Horizontal and Vertical directions. The only way I could figure this out was to do each row individually, then each column individually. I was hoping that there was a one time do it for me. Quote
