RobWu Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Hi all, Running into a major issue right now.ALL my versions of Photo and Designer keep crashing the moment I try to move a layer in the stack. This happens with both 1.x and 2.x versions of the applications, and in new or existing files. I did receive a Windows 10 update this weekend, but I cannot imagine to have such an effect on the Affinity apps. Anyone else seeing this popping up? I'm dead in the water right now, and have to deliver final images this week cheers for any tips, thoughts etc.... rob Edit: it also happens when I try to add a mask to any layer in the stack. It's quite possible, unfortunately. The update might have installed something that has a bug, perhaps a video (GPU) driver update, or something in the .NET framework. You may be able to confirm for sure by removing the update. Or you could try adjusting your application Performance settings, perhaps turning off Hardware Acceleration (OpenCL) or switching to WARP for the rendering. RobWu Posted May 15, 2023 Author Posted May 15, 2023 Hi Walt, Thanks for the reply and thoughts. I did check if anything was changes in the preferences of the apps, but all seemed to be the same. A 'desperate measures' act was to reinstall/repair everything, and that seems to have worked. I just checked all versions of the applications, with and without existing files, and it all seems to work as expected again. I can drag layers and/or mask around without the applications crashing on me. No idea what caused it, it could be the latest Windows 10 feature update. No video driver updates lately, so that would be an no. But .Net could be a possible suspect as well, no idea what a Windows update changes for .Net stuff. Luckly it all works again, now back to work I guess... The app preferences would all be the same. My suggestion was to change them, to avoid whatever bug had been introduced into Windows by the Windows update. But, it's good to hear it's working again Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.
