Hi, I'm using an M1 Macmini (fully up to date) and Publisher was fine until last week now it hangs (spinning beach ball) when saving any document. Can someone help please? I've tried re-installing Publisher. In the old days we would delete an application's preferences file but I ddon;t even know where that lives these days in Mac Ventura!

Hi, try this. Delete the mru.dat file which is located in:

/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Affinity Publisher 2/mru.dat

That file contains the list of recent documents for the menu so deleting it won't cause any issues. As I was recently reminded (thanks @R C-R!), this Library folder is hidden by default so you may have to unhide it first.

Unfortunately that didn't work. I also tried deleting the whole Publisher folder within Appllication Support, with no improvement.

I wouldn't delete the entire folder, you will lose things like presets, plugins, profiles, shortcuts, and preferences.

The next thing I would try is reconnecting any drives that you previously had connected. Did you disconnect from a network drive, cloud drive, or USB drive?

I am syncing to GDrive. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting. I have also noticed that Publisher no longer opens files if I double click on an afpub file – it takes me to Publisher but does not open the file (I have to go to File>Open. Also documents are not populating the recently used list.

For anyone interested I may have solved the issue.

The files were inside a folder named 'Väderstad' – changing the name to 'Vaderstad' appears to have fixed the issue. Must be a language issue.

I'm glad you were able to find a solution. I can't duplicate a problem using a folder with that name for a document and its linked images though so something is up with this.
