Hello,

We have a strange problem a document, when we apply "edit detached" or use the short-key "Ctrl+Shift+D" Affinity Publisher crashes.

This behavior is consistent on multiple systems.
if we create a new document with the same master pages applying "edit detached" will work normally.

Event viewer shows a .net error

I have attached one page of the file with the problem.

Has anyone seen anything similar?
Or does anyone know a solution?

Looking at the Layers panel I noticed that you have a Master Page applied to the one Actual Page. It is called Master Page. Two things leap out at me. One is that this Master Page isn't in the Master Pages, meaning it doesn't actually exist in the document. The other is that the Master Page contains itself.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Hi @gaf welcome to the forums,

As Old Bruce has pointed out you appear to have a Master page named 'Master Page' which doesn't actually exist on your document and it also strangely contains itself, so when you try and detach the 'Master Page' layer to edit Publisher is trying to detach from a master page record which doesn't exist, which results in the crash.

Do you have any recollection as to how it originally got in this state with a missing master page? If the problem can be re-produced on a new document I'll get this logged with the developers.

Hi Old Bruce and NatanC,

Thank you both for looking into this and for giving such detailed feedback 🙂

Unfortunately i did not work on this document (i am an IT guy who was asked to look into the crashes), the people who did work on the document don't know how this happened, so we have been unable to reproduce the problem.

I am happy you have found an explanation.

Thanks for the help!
