LuHe Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Hey guys, I am running Affinity Designer 1.10.6 on my My Mac Monterey 12.0.1. I had my Affinity files linked with my Google Drive Account where i had a desktop link. Unfortunately the 2 attached documents both showed the same sign: "Das Dokument lässt sich nicht öffnen" "Die Datei scheint beschädigt zu sein" "This file seems to be damaged" Unfortunately it is a very important file + I haven't done anything different since I opened it the last time. Can you fix it? Is there a place where I may find a recovery file/auto save file? PRO11-Turniere.afdesign PRO11-FS-Locations-Termine.afdesign Quote
Dan C Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Hi @LuHe, Welcome to the Affinity Forums & sorry to hear you're having trouble. I have tried to recover these documents using the tools available to me, however thus far I have been unable to repair these files, my apologies. Inspecting the files in a HEX editor shows that a 'chunk' of data is missing, which would likely be the reason for this corruption - 3 hours ago, LuHe said: I had my Affinity files linked with my Google Drive Account where i had a desktop link. Due to the way the Affinity apps load/save files, our developers recommend only opening/saving files to a local location, with a copy of your document being uploaded to the cloud for backup purposes. Unfortunately it's likely due to the Google Drive location being used that this corruption has occurred. I will be logging these files with our developers for further inspection, but due to the missing data it is unlikely that our team will be able to recover these files - our sincerest apologies for any inconveniences caused due to this. LuHe Posted April 25, 2023 Author Posted April 25, 2023 Hey, The linked data may be missing, because I didn't send you the linked photos. Could you recover a data that I could open at least? I would be fine re-importing all the linked files. Or is this also not possible? Greetings, Lucas Quote
Dan C Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Unfortunately the missing data is not related to your linked files, there are considerable sections of the file where no usable data exists - meaning it is unlikely this file can be recovered, my sincerest apologies once again. Quote
ATP Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Hello LuHe. If you've worked with the file on Google Drive, you can restore earlier versions of the file from within https://drive.google.com/. Click the three dots on the right and choose 'Manage versions'. You should get a pop-up that lets you restore earlier versions of the file. Quote
