AidanTA Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 (edited) I upgraded to Windows 11 and have been having color issues with Photoshop and Affinity Designer. I found a way to fix it in Photoshop, but have not found any way to fix it in Designer 2. The colors are fine on shapes and things native to Designer 2. But when I try to import a photo it has weird coloring issues. I have tried resetting the colors in Windows, and have tried multiple color profiles in Designer 2. Nothing has seemed to work. Anyone else having this same issue? I am trying to use Designer 2 but it's looking like I might have to switch to something else I have also attached my color settings in Designer. Any help is greatly appreciated! Edit: I have been messing around with things a bit more and found out that When I export the below document, the colors are correct. Also, colors in the viewport are darker than they are on export. This means that the color rendering is messed up. Any suggestions on how to go about fixing this? Thanks! walt.farrell Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @AidanTA. Does this only happen when you are Placing the file into another document, or does it also happen when you Open the file directly? What kind of file is it, and what is its color format and profile? If this is only happening since your conversion to Windows 11, what are your Windows Display Settings, especially for the Display profile? Dan C Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Hi @AidanTA, Welcome to the Affinity Forums 1 hour ago, walt.farrell said: what are your Windows Display Settings, especially for the Display profile? I suspect that Walt is onto the source of this issue, as it sounds related to the colour profile that is applied to your monitor currently. If you're not sure how to find this panel you can open Windows Run (Windows Key + R) then paste the following string and press OK: colorcpl In the window that opens, you should find the colour profile settings applied for your monitor(s) - screenshots of these settings would help us to further support you here. Many thanks in advance! walt.farrell 1 Quote

It appears to be a color rendering issue. So all of the colors in the viewport are darker than they actually are. Even the shape colors get exported as a different color. What kind of file is it, and what is its color format and profile? The image is a .png file. The designer file is just the regular .afdesign file. I'm not sure how to check the color format and profile on the image. It was just a screenshot from my computer. I would assume whatever the basic color format and profile is. I have tried multiple images and they all have the same issue. If you were asking for the color format and profile for Designer, I included that in the screenshots of the original post. If this is only happening since your conversion to Windows 11, what are your Windows Display Settings, especially for the Display profile? When I upgraded to Windows 11 I also downloaded a new NVIDIA Graphics driver. I'm not sure if it is an issue with Windows 11 or the new graphics driver. I tried updating the graphics driver last night but that had no effect. I have attached a screenshot of my display settings. I have three monitors but I included the monitor I do my work on (They all have the same settings). I also no not use HDR. Thank you so much for all of the help! Please let me know if there is anything else I should provide! I really appreciate it! Quote

I think you should change your display setting so it's not using the virtual device profile, but standard sRGB. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/search/&q="virtual device model profile"&quick=1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Doing that fixed the issue! For people here who are experiencing the same issue, here is what I followed to fix it: Change the Windows color system defaults (Color management > advanced) from "srgb virtual device model profile" to "srgb IEC61966-2.1 Thanks to all who helped! I greatly appreciate it! Dan C and walt.farrell 2 Quote
