I retired nearly 2 years ago and recently cancelled my Adobe Subscription so found Affinity to be the best affordable alternative. I have about 20 pictures of race cars that I work on when I feel like it and this is one that I have decided to finish. Not a well known Formula 1 car and this was it's only Grand Prix. The nosecone and a few other bits were designed using Adobe but the rest is Affinity Designer and Photo. My next illustration will be pure Affinity. dannyg9 Posted March 25, 2023 Share Posted March 25, 2023 Excellent work. Proves the Adobe is NOT the "be all-end all" and that Affinity programs are just as robust and powerful. From personal experience, Adobe programs are bloated and I always found it a fight to work in Illustrator. Being that I know ZERO about Grand Prix, is the number supposed to be at an angle? Alansart Posted March 25, 2023 Author Share Posted March 25, 2023 There are a few things in Designer that are missing like the blend tool but I agree Affinity is a pretty damn good alternative to Adobe. As for the number on the nosecone, it's at an angle so it faces the timekeepers as the car comes past. If the timing box is on the left the number faces left and right if the box is on the other side of the circuit. It doesn't matter these days as it's all timed electronically.
