Hello,

[Publisher 2]

I would like to use the "French" dictionary.
I have set up the Settings correctly and chosen the "French" dictionary. However it is still the English dictionary that seems to be active in my document.

Most likely the text in your document has its language set to English. You can change it using the Character panel or better if you use Text Styles and set it there

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Yes, the language in which a text/paragraph/sentence/word is written is a property of that text/paragraph/sentence/word. If the text is defined as having been written in English - and therefore should be subsequently checked by an English dictionary, then of course this will not change (and must not change) after changing the language of the application (otherwise, after transferring the document to another PC with a different language, the spelling would be completely broken ). If you want to check the text in another language, you have to mark it and change the Language in the Character panel.

Thank you for your quick answers.
My original text is in French, it is a copy and paste from Pages (mac).

I can't find the Character panel. Is there a keyboard shortcut to access it?

Is there a way to select my entire document to use the French dictionary for the whole thing?

If you are using Publisher 2 then the Character Panel is in the Windows > Text > Character menu.

If you can select all the text with the Text Caret then you should be able to just toggle the language in the Character panel from Whatever (even if is French) to French and all should be good.
