Hi,

I am a very new user to post processing  and recently bought  Affinity Photo 2... only because my son kept telling me how much I needed it!!  I love it, but recently I've lost the Inpainting brush.

When I select it, for some reason it turns into a cross, which of course doesn't work. I've tried using the J key, but this causes it to turn to Patch Tool and also the Red Eye Removal Tool, which is even more confusing!!

I'm sure it's something I've done wrong, but I cannot get it back. Please help?

Is it the only brush tool that does that, or is it all if them?

If it's all of them, check to see if you have CapsLock enabled, and if so, turn it off.

Check the size of the brush when you have the Inpainting tool chosen. If it is quite small, the cursor will look like crosshairs. Also, since the brush is so very small it will appear not to be doing anything. Try increasing the size of the brush (top left, on the Context Toolbar) and see if the Inpainting tool works for you.

Thank you, both, so much for your help. I did check the CapsLock and that was ok.

I then found the brush size, evenually, and kept going till it changed from the cross to the circle. I can't tell you how happy I am that after 3 weeks it's sorted!!

My son had the same problem so I will now be able to show him how its done!

Bless you both for rescuing me., but I know I'm going to need a lot more help in the future. Jennie.

@arquata - Glad you got this one sorted, Jennie. The forum is almost always a quick and kind group of folks who, more often than not, can come to your rescue. They've rescued me plenty of times!
