Hello folks!

I'm seeing a strange render error and I'm hoping someone has seen it before. There are two pages each with a linked Photo file in Publisher. If I render them as a PDF, there is a semi-transparent dark overlay on one of the pages, as seen in the attached pic.

If I write them out as a JPG, they render correctly. I've tried all possible combinations in the PDF export window and nothing seems to fix it. If I embed the files, same error. If I write out JPGs from the Photo files, bring those in and export as PDF, they render correctly.

The top pic is the correct JPG render. The bottom pic is the PDF with the right page showing the error. It is darker except for that narrow vertical band.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Have you made sure there is nothing overlapping in that area?

Yep, there is only the 1 layer per page. Nothing overlapping. Also, if there was some kind of obscuring layer, I'd expect to see the same issue in the JPG.

Using the flatten preset did fix it. But I'm guessing it fixes it in the same way that writing out a JPG fixed it, as they both flatten the image.

In any case, how do I diagnose and fix a possible transparency adjustment?

Thanks!
