albertkinng Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Since I get an extra wide monitor the negative space is too much, and now I love to have my screen space completely in use, so I can have a productive and pleasing working day. Can you stack the tools windows side by side inside the app or is it just impossible right now? It will be good to have them side by side too, so I can use the main app and not having the tools floating around as I use to. Quote Ask for my services: albertkinng.com
MikeTO Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Hi Albert, no, that's no possible on the Mac version of Affinity. I believe the Windows version can have two columns of panels in the right studio but the Mac is limited to one column on each side. You'll have to keep your panels undocked if you want multiple columns on the right. albertkinng 1 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.5, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)

Well... maybe the way the app was made doesn't let you make that option easily available. I wonder if the developers who get the feedback would work with it... We can flood UI with columns in Windows. There doesn't appear to be a limit, and if there is, it's beyond practical. albertkinng 1 Quote

RWhite Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Thanks ambertkinng. I guess I always knew you could use palettes off the main document window but I suppose I just prefer docking all my working palettes. One odd thing I have just noticed though, if I have my Layers, Assets and Stock docked together in one palette which I place off to one side, as your example. Every time I switch between them the palette shrinks horizontally ever so slightly each time. Which means I have to adjust the size back every so often. Have you noticed this behaviour? It's certainly not a deal breaker as I can put up this oddity, but it does suggest that the Affinity development team does need to tweak the software code to illuminate this discrepancy/bug. Until such time they allow Mac users to dock palettes side by side of course. Quote

Before setting up the preset, ensure you adjust the size of each palette—Layers, Assets, and so on—individually. If you only adjust the Layers palette and neglect to fix the Assets palette, it will consistently shrink, even if they are in the same panel. I hope this information proves helpful! RWhite Posted March 17 Posted March 17 alberkinng, thank you. I have tried several times now to resize and save the studio. But unfortunately I have had absolutely no joy. Every time I save and click on a palette it seems to resize itself. It's maddening, I've never had this issue with any other software. For now I'm going to have to have my palettes docked on each side as I don't have any more time to understand this issue. If you do have any other suggestions of what I am doing wrong then I will try to look at this resolve at a later date. Ultimately this is why the Affinity team needs to resolve palette docking on the Mac. Thanks again. Quote
