When I open a file created with Affinity Publisher 1 with version 2 I get a serious problem with text wrapping that is going to force me to redesign a document of more than 200 pages.

The document is a manual in which I include at regular intervals text boxes with practices where a series of exercises are proposed. These boxes include a block of text and certain decorative images that enhance the appearance of the document—elements are grouped together without applying any type of adjustment individually. When I group them and apply a top and bottom wrap to the group, even though the distance to text is zero it adds a large white space that scrolls the content.

This problem does not occur in version 1 that I used to create the file.

Hi, I don't think this issue has been reported by others and I haven't seen any issues like it myself. Could you please upload a test file, preferably one created in v1 that appears differently in v2? It doesn't have to be your entire file, but just a single page with a single wrapped object and some text which could be dummy text.

Thanks

The problem persists...

I create a document with Affinity Publisher 2.1.1 with several chained text boxes; these text boxes contain the main text of the document.

Now, I create a small text box with a comment/note and group it with a small decorative image created with Affinity Designer 2.1.1. I group both elements and overlay it to the main text box using an anchor with the most suitable paragraph. I define a space above and below the overlay text box.
The layout looks correct, I save it, I retrieve it and the text does not appear above the overlay box. I remove the anchor and the layout is fixed, so I recreate it. Everything looks good... I save the file, I recover it and again the problem appears.

I have been dealing with this problem since the first versions of V.2.X, which is why I have continued to work with the V.1.X.
I thought it was because I was using Affinity Designer 1.X, but after acquiring version 2.X, things remain the same...

Greetings and thanks for your help...

I have been making similar models with version 1.X since it appeared and I have never had any problem including elements of Affinity Designer in Affinity Publisher, until I started using version 2.X, which is why I still use version 1.X.

The file that completes the group is very simple...

I am just guessing but I figure the problem is down to the FX on the little red thing. The FX would be over the entire Designer canvas and would maybe somehow flow over into a larger Publisher area. Completely guessing here.

Yesterday while pondering this I couldn't figure out why you didn't just make the odd little bit from Designer in Publisher. Still curious as to why you didn't do that.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Old Bruce:

The shadow doesn’t exceed the size of the document, but even if you remove it, the problem persists.
I think Designer is designed for vector drawing, so I use it to create all the images of this type —vectorial—. I guess being both products developed by the same company, there should be no integration problems.

The deduction I’ve come to after many tests and although it seems incredible, the integration between Designer and Publisher does not work properly.
I have not had any problems with version 1.X, but the problem is recurring in all updates of version 2.X.
You spend a lot of effort adjusting the layout, everything looks right, you save the Publisher document and as soon as you recover it the layout has been completely corrupted.
For this reason I have not been able to recover any files created with version 1.X with version 2.X, as I would have to rebuild it completely.

Curiously, if the afdesign file is not available when the document loads (e.g., rename it) and then when prompted you locate it, the page renders correctly. But if you save the document and re-open it then it won't load correctly. I'm unsure what the issue is because if I embed the afdesign file it works fine. Maybe it has something to do with loading linked resources that are also pinned and wrapped. I don't know but Serif will have to investigate it.

BTW it's not the FX, I turned that off and it didn't make a difference.

For now, just embed the image and all will be fine.

Cheers
