Kris Gebhardt Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Hi all, I've been using Affinity Designer for a few years now on a Macbook with Magic Mouse 1 ( 15'', 2.9 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i9, 32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4, Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB, catalina). Since the update to V2, the mouse is barely usable: it loses its grips when dragging, gaps appear when setting paths, and so on. All updates are installed and with other applications there are no problems with the mouse. I also don't want to have two mice on my desk, one for Affinity and the MM for the rest. Because I am very happy with the Apple Mouse as it fits well in my small hands. Am I the only one with these difficulties? I thank you in advance for the (hopeful) help. Many warm greetings Kristin Quote
MikeTO Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Hi Kris, I haven't seen any other reports of this problem on the forums here so it might be an issue with your system. If it "loses its grips" when dragging it sounds like the drag event is terminating and restarting. I used to use a Magic Mouse and I experienced that when the battery was low, and it got worse as it aged. I assume you have your mouse fully charged. If you spend most of your time in Affinity then you might notice dragging issues with the mouse in other applications. But if you work just as much in other apps then it's less likely to be a mouse issue. Also, you could spend 10 minutes dragging objects in v1 as a test, assuming you still have it installed. See if you can replicate the issue in v1. If you can it's unlikely to be an issue with Affinity since you only started noticing it during the v2 upgrade. user_0815 Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 I'm using a magic mouse on Mac (13 Ventura) and haven't noticed any difference after updating to V2. Kris Gebhardt 1 Quote
Kris Gebhardt Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 Hi MikeTo and User_0815 Thank you very much for the tips. That can really be the solution, if the batteries are older and the sliding surface of the mouse perhaps already worn, the problem is to be explained. So I will retire my MM 1 and hire a successor. I was very happy to get your quick and competent help. Kind regards Kris MikeTO 1 Quote
