Hi all,

I seem to have extra lines (that are not in my design) when I print. It gets weirder, because they are not there al of the time.

The black lines always show up around a layer or object that has been added. Sometimes it's just 1 line, sometimes it even makes a whole box around the item.

I've made an example of what it could look like. (Could, because it changes as I explained).

Also, when I print something, like the picture I added, I get margins that are unwanted. I do select the correct measurements for the paper I use and explicitly add no margins in the settings. Still it happens. Not one of my prints was centered because of that.
It would be great to get some tips on that. (This issue wasn't there when I used Affinity 1).

I was able to avoid the problem for colors that don't come out right by choosing 'normal paper' on the printer, but now that too stopped working and colors are off again. (I make birthday cards for family and friends, so I am in trouble now).

A lot of questions, hope someone has the answers :)
Thanks for advice :)

Hi RichardMH, I don't know if they are there when saving as a tiff. They simply shouldn't be there at all is what I think, as they are not in the design, right?
I'll try the acceleration off. The thing is that its not always there, so won't know if this is the solution till I tried a few times. Also, turning that off will probably have other consequences too?

On certain Hardware configurations it can cause issues, so it would be a good place to start just to confirm if it's related to this problem.

- Regarding the unwanted lines, try enabling 'Rasterise Entire Page' before printing to see if they persist on the final Print (found under the Rasterization menu)

- Regarding the margins, have you checked if exporting to a different format first, such as PDF and then printing the PDF to see if the margin problems persist?

- Are you letting the app to the Colour management or have you got it set to 'Defined by Printer' in the print settings? It may be better to let the colour management be defined by your printer.

If you're still having issues, It would be beneficial if you could provide us with a sample .afphoto file where you're experiencing these problems, along with a screenshot of your print settings within the app and advise which printer you're using.

Thanks NathanC for taking time to help out.

- I've checked and hardware acceleration was/isn't on.
- I'll try rastering page before printing. But isn't it strange that it doesn't happen all the time?
- I've now changed micromanagement to be performed by printer.
- My printer is a Canon MG5150

I'll try all this out 😊

Hi @B.D.,

There doesn't appear to be anything within your file that I can see would directly cause this, nor can I replicate this when i've printed on a Canon (similar model, IX6800) printer, was this printed with the aforementioned settings (Rasterise all, Colour manage by printer)? Also, if you were to print the same/a different document multiple times does the same appear on each print or is it completely intermittent? If it does only happen intermittently, this could indicate that there might be physical issue with a printer component.

Hi NathanC,

I must admit I forgot to 'rastarise all', I did print a similar card over the weekend and had the exact same problem again. (did not rastarise all, again)
And yes, it comes with every print, when I redo the lines are there, same place.
If I have to use the 'rastarise all' setting every time, this will happen very often, as I am forgetful. Agh!
I now print on the setting 'color management by printer' and 'normal paper' so the colors wouldn't play tricks on me anymore, works well except for the fact that the printer is insisting on it's own presets for measurements ^^

Anyway, I didn't realize all this could be challenging.
Thanks for looking in to this Nathan, really appreciate it!
