JosueVivas Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Hello, I noticed that the app is really slow and the GPU level is crazy high when doing basically nothing. I'm on the latest publisher version, all dirvers adn windows are up to date. You can see that in the captured video, the windows preferences are to use the NVIDIA GPU but the app uses the Intel GPU. Also the performance preference selects the Nvidia GPU. Can you notice how a Desktop Window Manager service spikes the use of the GPU when having only Publisher opened and doing nothing to the file? No idea how to reproduce this at your end to be honest. Note: the file I'm using was created in V1. "Saved as" another file when V2, just in case. Am I doing something wrong? Staff NathanC Posted February 8, 2023 Staff Posted February 8, 2023 Hey @JosueVivas, The apps (with H/A enabled) can still take advantage of multiple GPU’s, which is why you’ll sometimes see the app using both GPU’s in task manager despite the renderer being assigned to your RTX card. What’s unusual in your circumstance is the significant spike in DWM’s (Desktop Window Manager) GPU usage for the intel integrated whilst loading your document and using the app, rather than the app itself. On a similar Laptop setup (3050 ti and Intel Integrated on W11) I’m not seeing this behaviour. From looking at other online sources regarding DWM I’d first suggest ensuring that your Nvidia GPU drivers are updated, and if it continues try disabling ‘Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling’ under Windows ‘Graphics Settings’ > ‘Change Default Graphics Settings’ > Uncheck The first option. After doing this, restart and check usages again. Additionally, you can always force all apps to use/render using your Nvidia GPU by straight up disabling Integrated Graphics in Windows device manager. In terms of slow loading times for documents, I’d expect this to be more CPU/Memory intensive rather than GPU, however for comparison’s sake, could you possibly provide me with the .afpub from the recording? I’ve provided a private upload link below. https://www.dropbox.com/request/WKLogYHDdTaDIsWvUbKw Many thanks 🙂 Quote

When the integrated gpu(not HA supported) is also active the benchmark shows a lower outcome on multi gpu on both raster and vector. If I disable the integrated gpu the outcome is higher so multi gpu has less performance as compared to only running the dedicated gpu. According to the help guide it should, however in practice I agree, i'm also getting lower benchmark results with a mix of Integrated and dedicated graphics. I believe we have this one logged, if not i'll get it logged. Quote
JosueVivas Posted February 8, 2023 Author Posted February 8, 2023 Cool. Drivers were updated prior to rasing this ticket. afpub file as a package sent with dropbox. Thank you Note: the DWM is still high only when I have Publisher maximised, when it is minimised, the DWM GPU consuption drops. I had a look and it is still high when I'm NOT doing any screen capture. I'm changing the Graphics settings as you are suggesting: I'll keep you posted. Kind, Josue Quote
