dphoto2 Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Hello. Is it possible to get multi-lines of text on a curve in Designer? (or Publisher or Photo). Currently, the only way I can accomplish this is to copy the path, move it, then replace the text with the next line. It would be nice to be able to do this with one step rather than two. Thanks. GarryP Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 I don’t think you can do it with a single Text on Path layer, but I would be happy to be proven wrong. I would try using a Warp Group instead – maybe Arc Horizontal. Quote
dphoto2 Posted February 2, 2023 Author Posted February 2, 2023 Thanks. This will suffice. It seems the option was moved to a different spot in v2? Quote

Defining a shape/curve using the Warp Tool is not that easy. If the software allowed multi-line text on a path then, in some situations, at some point, the text could ‘exceed’ the path, and I don’t know what I would expect in those situations – see attached mock-up image. (Or maybe I'm just not thinking about it right and it would be fine.) If it were easier to manipulate curves using a Warp Group then that might not be such a problem. Quote

But this can happen even in the current "one-line" solution. Simply, when the length of the text together with its size exceeds the boundaries of the line, undesirable and often unexpected deformations begin to occur. For multi-line text, vertical alignment could be applied, so that the lines would be centered around the guide line, the line spacing could be changed, which, unlike the N.P.M. still kept correct/undeformed spacing, etc. Quote Affinity Store (MSI/EXE): Affinity Suite (ADe, APh, APu) 2.5.7.2948 (Retail) Dell OptiPlex 7060, i5-8500 3.00 GHz, 16 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630, Dell P2417H 1920 x 1080, Windows 11 Pro, Version 24H2, Build 26100.2605. Another option: Some time ago I have posted an IDML template with linked text-on-path frames. That's something you can do in InDesign but not in Publisher. However, Publisher will import those linked paths and keep the links intact. The paths can then be edited just like any other curves. linked_text_on_path.idml Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
