Transparent background

Hello! 

I am trying to export a file in Affinity Designer for the iPad version 2 with a transparent background. Can you share the instructions to accomplish this task.

What kind of file do you want to export? Some file types don't support transparency. JPG, for example, doesn't.

Nex, in many cases you'll probably want to establish a transparent background when you create the document: 

But depending on your design, and what you want to export, it may not be required, so it may be helpful to have more info and a screenshot of what you have.

Also, if you didn't start out with a document setup for a transparent background, you can change it later:

Finally, for some export file types, you'll have an option for setting a matte color. You don't want to do that for a transparent background.

Thank you Walt! This is perfect. I appreciate the rapid response. 

I tried this, but I was concern that I was unable to see the transparency in Preview - it displays with a black background(see attachment), rather than the transparent background before exporting (see attachment).

What Export options have you selected? A screenshot of that dialog would be useful.

Your settings look good to me. Some viewers don't show transparent backgrounds for PNG files. Perhaps you're using one of them?

Also be aware Files viewer doesn’t show transparency. Documents viewer will show transparency.
