wynter57 Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 Hi. I'm new to Affinity Designer. When I am copying and pasting and it creates a new layer, it always creates the new layer as a child layer, but I don't want that. I want when I copy and paste a layer for it to be its own separate parent layer. If that's not possible, how does one change a child layer to a parent layer? In doing Google research, someone in this forum asked how to do the same thing and was told that it would be in the Assistant Manager. Well, that became another issue as I searched to find this "Assistant Manager" and every place said it was under View, well, it is not. I finally found it after wasting quite a bit of time and found it is in Edit / Preferences, however, there were no choices about making new layers be parent layers, so that was another total waste of time. There has to be an easy way to do this and I'm just missing it. I tried dragging a child layer to the left but it does not move that way, only up or down to be above or below other layers. Thanks for any help. I appreciate it. Wynter Quote
walt.farrell Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. What are you copying and pasting? Can you provide some screenshots of the complete application window, and including the Layers panel, so we can have more of an idea what you're working with?
