Maracas
Channels are unworkable as is. I’d love to stop giving money to adobe if possible. Please make them as intuitive as they are in photoshop! At the very least the ability to copy/paste directly into them without weird workarounds. inediblered, Frozen Death Knight and mattaudio
Pixel and Poly
Please Please Please let us easily edit, paste in info into the channels. I've been using the Affinity suite since it's beta on Windows and working in game dev and 3d we need easy channel editing/pasting. Channel packing is used all the time in game dev and it's an enormous pain to do in Photo. It should be simple to copy a greyscale selection and go into any channel and simply paste it in. I love recommending Photo to people but always stop short when it comes to 3d / game work as this is a sorely needed feature. MarcoMR
This would bring a large portion of the game-dev industry to you, everyone hates Adobe—just the ability to copy and paste straight into channels and edit them easily. As the software is now it cannot replace Photoshop as a daily driver. Working with channels is too convoluted. From an outside observer, this seems easy to achieve compared to the possible customer base increase.
Frozen Death Knight
The only workaround I found to this limitation was making red, green, and blue coloured layers with a certain blend option to make sure each channel mixed together to get the packaging done correctly. However, this does not work with the Alpha channel, which is a big problem when certain packing methods require that channel sometimes. I hope that whenever the 3D painting system that was teased 4 years ago actually launches that we will get more advanced packing options to put specific texture maps into a desired channel like Substance Painter. Would make Affinity pretty powerful for just editing textures from elsewhere.
