The input control is basically useless to get fine-level control over z-axis.

Emulating a sphere / elevation does not make much sense, the area to provide input is limited to 128 pixels in diameter. For useful control, you need to be able to have a minimum resolution of 100-255 steps (distinctive values).

Unfortunately the current implementation makes it almost impossible to enter z-values below 50.

Instead of the current "elevation" formula, it would make much more sense to use simply the linear distance from centre, to allow finer steps. The control needs to be enlarged to at least 512px radius (to get 256 steps from centre to edge).

Using grey levels of 66 and 86-69 makes this control almost invisible vs. background colours.
