Verifying application each time

Recommended Posts

I am new to Affinity and recently bought the latest version.  Our Mac is set up for 2 different users and Affinity Photo 2 is installed to one of them.  When we log out of that user and onto the other then return to the first user and open Affinity, it 'verifies' the application each time, sometimes taking many minutes to open.  No other apps do this. Can anyone throw any light why it is doing this and how we can stop it? I am wondering whether to delete the app and reinstall. I would be grateful for any suggestions please  Thanks

Did you buy Photo direct from Serif or from the Apple App Store? If the latter, this was most definitely an issue with v1 (app icon bouncing in the Dock up to 40 or 50 times on first launch after a restart or logout). There were regular complaints on this forum about it. The issue did not occur with apps bought from Serif.

Serif blamed Apple, but it didn't seem to happen with any other third-party apps.

If you bought from Apple, it sounds like it continues to be an issue in v2.

Affinity Photo 2.5.3,  Affinity Designer 2.5.3, Affinity Publisher 2.5.3, Mac OSX 14.5, 2018 MacBook Pro 15" Intel.

Thank you for your responses.  I bought the app directly from Serif so not Apple’s fault.  I think GarryP was correct in that for some reason the app hadn’t installed correctly. The DMG file was showing in the Apps folder and not the Affinity icon.  I have now deleted the app and reinstalled and it seems to be working ok now. Many thanks.

The DMG (Disk Image file) file should be in the Downloads folder and after you double click, or otherwise open, the DMG file you will have access to the actual Application file which you then drag to the Applications folder.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
