I have been using a afpub file for the last four day in V2 with no issues, now when I try and open the same file i'm getting an error "the file includes features from a later version of affinity" I'm definitely opening the file in V2.

Thank you! I can confirm the process - but have no explanation for it.
Perhaps it will be of use to the developers if you make the protocol available to them. You can find it (in Windows) under
%userprofile%\.affinity\Publisher\2.0\ --> Log.txt

I did have a look using the search feature of the forum but couldn't see anything, I will wait for a fix.

Is it known what is causing the error?

Thank you @Pšenda. I must have missed that - or forgotten it again.
It looks like there is a connection with externally stored files.
In this respect, it would be interesting to know whether @CWR's Publisher2 file was stored on an external storage medium.

All of our files are on OneDrive so this could explain what has gone wrong.

Although this is the only publisher file that I have an issue with, I have been using 5 other files saved in the same OneDrive location this week that are not effected.

Serif recommends always working on local files, and using external drives and cloud storage only for backups and sharing.
